Teaching Faculty – Personal Development
Professor Dr Daniela Mosoiu
Professor Dr Daniela Mosoiu, Ass. MD, PhD, Director Education, National Strategy and Development Hospice Casa Sperantei.
Doctor, trained as oncologist with subspecialty in palliative care, leads the Romanian palliative care subspecialty program for doctors. She is supervising all the educational programs and national development and advocacy work of Hospice Casa Sperantei being the leader of the Palliative Care movement in Romania. She teaches student and coordinates the master program at the Medical Faculty, Transylvania University, Brasov. Internationally she is a palliative care expert for the region, faculty in the LDI program in San Diego and mentor for leaders from Moldova, Hungary, Greece.
Professor Dr Raymond Voltz
Professor Dr Raymond Voltz, a neurologist, took over the newly founded Chair for Palliative Medicine at the University Hospital at Cologne in 2004. He is one of the founding members of the German Society of Palliative Medicine and has been its vice president. He is member of different medical boards and reviewer in different national and international professional associations and journals.
Malina Dumitrescu
Malina Dumitrescu is the Director for Programs Development and Public Relations and one of the founders of Hospice Casa Sperantei . Trained as linguist and in health management has a Master Degree in palliative care. She is involved in writing and coordinating projects for Hospice Casa Sperantei, maintaining relationships with health authorities at local and national level and palliative care providers. She offers support for knowhow transfer to new palliative care services regarding organizational, administrative and legal aspects and is trainer since 2000.
Gerrit Frerich
Gerrit Frerich, a sociologist, researched into social epidemiology at the School for Public Health, University of Bielefeld, Germany. He has been a research assistant at the Center for Palliative Medicine, University Hospital Cologne since 2011. He is involved in the research on the wish for hastened death of terminally ill patients and its interpretation and the response to it by health professionals. He is the course coordinator of the European Palliative Care Academy.

Teaching Faculty – Teamwork
Dr Malgorzata Krajnik
Dr Malgorzata Krajnik is consultant physician in palliative medicine at the University Hospital in Bydgoszcz, Poland and the head of Chair of Palliative Care at Collegium Medicum of Nicolaus Copernicus University. She is the editor-in-chief of Advances in Palliative Medicine and Medycyna Paliatywna w Praktyce. She is the author of academic textbooks and articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Professor Ewa Jassem
Professor Ewa Jassem is a specialist in internal medicine, pulmonology and allergology. She heads the Department of Allergology and Pulmonology at the Medical University of Gdańsk, Poland. She is an author of over 150 scientific publications and four text-books on pulmonology. She is also the initiator and co-ordinator of the innovative integrated care program for patients with advanced COPD.
Reverend Dr Piotr Krakowiak
Reverend Piotr Krakowiak works at the NC University in Torun. Involved in hospice-palliative care since 1990 as volunteer, chaplain and volunteers coordinator. After studies in Italy and the US he worked as psychologist and manager of a Hospice in Gdansk. With Hospice Foundation he supervised nationwide program “I like helping” for volunteers. His research concerns non-medical aspects of end-of-life care.
Dr Anna Ratajska
Dr Anna Ratajska is a psychologist working in the Chair of Palliative Care at Collegium Medicum of Nicolaus Copernicus University, Institute of Psychology at Kazimierz Wielki University and in University Hospital in Bydgoszcz. She is the author of numerous publications. Her areas of interest include the communication in medicine, end-of-life issue, team building and problem solving.
Dr Agnieszka Wójcik
Dr Agnieszka Wójcik is a physiotherapist and lecturer at the Chair of Physiotherapy at J. Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw (research and education). She has been working in palliative medicine from 15 years. She is the author of several articles. Her areas of interest include physiotherapy and strategy of selected osteopathic techniques used in oncology and palliative care.
Dr Anna Pyszora
Dr Anna Pyszora is a physiotherapist working in the Chair of Palliative Care at Collegium Medicum of Nicolaus Copernicus University and palliative home care (Popieluszko Hospice in Bydgoszcz). She also works as an educator and researcher. She is the author of numerous publications. Her areas of interest include physiotherapy treatment of severe symptoms in palliative care patients.
Magdalena Bidacha
Magdalena Bidacha is a psychologist, a graduate from the Warsaw University and post graduate from psychooncology and crisis intervention. At present she takes part in courses of psychotherapy. She works in a hospice and also runs courses. She is the author of several articles. Her areas of interest include end-of-life issues and communication in medicine and bereavement.
Katarzyna Lachut
Katarzyna Lachut is a physician in an outpatient clinic for psychogeriatric care in Pallmed, Sue Ryder Home in Bydgoszcz. She is Head of the Psychogeriatric Daily Ward with a main interest in psychoeducation and cognitive rehabilitation for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. She is a specialist in psychiatry. Her main areas of interests are dementias, community care and affective disorders in elderly.
Robert Kucharski
Robert Kucharski is a physician in an outpatient clinic for psychogeriatric care in Pallmed, Sue Ryder Home in Bydgoszcz. He is Head of the Psychogeriatric Center. He is a specialist in neurology. His main interests are diagnostic and therapeutic methods in Alzheimer’s disease, palliative and community care in dementias and caregiver burden.
Tomasz Zawadzki
Tomasz Zawadzki is a nurse with over twenty years experience. He specialized in palliative care. He works in a palliative home care (Popieluszko Hospice in Bydgoszcz).

Professor Irene Higginson OBE
Professor Irene Higginson OBE, Head of Department and Director of the Cicely Saunders Institute, King’s College London.
Professor Irene Higginson qualified in medicine from the University of Nottingham and has worked in a wide range of medical and university positions, including radiotherapy and oncology, in-patient and home hospice care, the Department of Health (England), and various universities.

Dr Jonathan Koffman
Dr Jonathan Koffman, Senior Lecturer in Palliative Care, MSc Coordinator & Sub Dean of Taught Postgraduate Studies in the School of Medicine, King’s College London. Jonathan has a BSc in Social Administration and an MSc in Sociology with Special Reference to Medicine from Royal Holloway and Bedford New College. Jonathan’s previous work experience involved health services research and commissioning for several health authorities.

Dr Catherine Evans, NIHR Clinical Lecturer Palliative Care; Honorary Clinical Nurse Specialist Palliative Care Sussex Community NHS Trust. Dr Catherine Evans is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer and has a joint clinical academic post between Sussex Community NHS and the Cicely Saunders Institute. She is a qualified district nurse and health visitor, and works as a community clinical nurse specialis.

Laura Iosub
Laura Iosub, Public Relation Coordinator for Education and Development at HOSPICE Casa Sperantei (HCS) Postgraduate in Fundraising and Project Management Degree, she is working for HCS since 1998. As Fundraising Director, she ran and coordinated local and national campaigns, events and proposed new and innovative ways for fundraising. She also teaches courses regarding organizational development.

Flavia Hurducas
Flavia Hurducas, Manager of Palliative Care Study Center (HCS) – Licensed in political studies, she is working for Hospice Casa Sperantei since 2008. As educational programs coordinator, she is organising with the team courses, conferences and other educational events dedicated to professionals in palliative care. As accredited trainer, she is also teaching courses regarding organizational development and adult teaching techniques.
